Spending Money Wisely (10-25-10)

Last night I was sitting with Madison in the living room. She had just received a birthday card from her cousins that contained a 5 dollar bill earlier in the day. She sat on the floor, holding her bill open, looked up at me and said "Mommy, this is my favorite dollar ever". I told her that it was all hers & she could spend it on whatever she would like. So then I asked her what she would like to purchase with it. She said "I'm going to buy some bread & milk." After a chuckle I explained that she could get what she wanted and re-asked the question. She pondered this for a moment & said "hmmm...I'm going to buy some milk & cheese!"

Dear Santa... (8-4-10)

This morning I was entertaining Madison by letting her look at the American Girl website. If you're unfamiliar with American Girl, it is a line of dolls that you can design to look like your child.

Madison was going nuts over the bitty baby that had dark hair & eyes, just like hers. Although, she liked the one that came with all the accessories. She made it clear that it had to be the one with all the "stuff".

A little while later I saw her scribbling in her notepad. She basically writes the letter "M" over & over again. :) I asked what she was writing. She put her pen down & read, "Dear Santa...bring me bunch of stuff. Oh & bring Noah a baseball."

Can you say Grumpy? (7-21-10)

Madison has been a bear today. I think a lot of it has to do with a skipped naptime. She just said "get me some grapes", so I calmly said "when you can learn how to ask nicely, I will get some for you". So then she decides to yell at the top of her lungs "I'm just being mean 'cause I'm tired!!" Looks like an early bedtime tonight. :)

Her Royal Majesty (7-21-10)

Madison was sent to timeout, which is the recliner, for hitting her brother. Noah’s sippy cup had leaked a little bit of milk on the seat & she said “Eww, Mommy I can’t sit here 'cause it’s wet!” I got a towel, dried it off & then put another towel on the seat so she could sit down. A minute goes by & then she says “Mommy, I can’t sit here cause it stinks & I’m Thee Madison so I need to sit on the couch!” As much as her attitude bothers me, I still can’t help but laughing to myself at Thee Madison.

The bacon incident (7-13-10)

This morning I gave Madison & Noah some turkey bacon for breakfast. As always, Noah didn't practice portion control & shoved half a piece in his mouth. I encouraged him to chew, chew, chew. He even opened his mouth so that I could get a view of his well chewed food. LOL He finally tried to swallow. He started gagging so I tried freeing the obstruction, when that didn't work I flipped him over my knee & hit his back to try and free it but he had alread managed to get it down. After he recovered, I took his bacon away & gave him some cereal.

About this time, Madison finally sat down at the breakfast table. She picked up a piece of bacon & Noah looked worried & shook his head no, he said "No chicken...No choke...No touch it!"

I have a feeling he won't be eating bacon for awhile. LOL It's nice, though, to see he's concerned for the safety of his sister. :)

Covering for Daddy (7-11-10)

I pride myself on the fact that Madison tells me everything, until tonight that is.

I was sitting in the living room with Noah when I hear Madison saying “Mommy…Mommy” I didn’t look up or respond immediately as I was still helping Noah. I then hear again “Mommy….” I looked at her & said “What Madison?” Beaming sweetly, she says “I love you”. I smiled back & said “I love you too, Sweetie”.

About this time I hear Eric laughing from the kitchen. He comes in the living room & told me he couldn’t believe how smart our daughter is. He gave her a Dorito in the kitchen & told her not to tell Mommy. She said that she had to tell me, because she tells Mommy everything. That’s about the time she came in saying the “Mommy…Mommy” Little did I know, Eric was standing out of view shaking his head no & whispering to her that she better not tell me. She just looked at him with a mischievous grin & nodded her head yes. So, just as he thought she was going to spill it…that’s when she says “I love you” to me & looked back at her Daddy with a big smile on her face.

Time Out! (7-8-10)

I accidentally left a small box out while the kids were taking a nap. I had every intention of disposing of it before they came down the stairs. Too late...Madison's first words upon entering the kitchen were "hey..what's that?" pointing at the tiny box. Let the madness ensue. Both kids went running & started fighting over the box. Madison managed to squeeze her little tush into it. Noah simultaneously pushed & then pulled a handful of her hair. I just so happened to capture the picture of it on my handy dandy cell phone. I immediately sent Noah to timeout for his required two minutes. I was too busy, however, uploading the picture to Facebook to set the timer for his timeout. I would say probably 2-3 minutes passed when I heard Madison say, "okay Bub, you can get out of timeout now. Give me kisses & say you're sorry". She's the back-up Mommy. :)

Shake 'em if you got 'em (7-7-10)

I was taking a shower today & Madison was already out, drying off. I hear from the other side of the curtain "Mommy, are you shaking your arms & legs?" Obviously, she was referring to shaving...

Clean up time (2-1-10)

We were downstairs in the basement (aka kids play room) & I asked Madison to help me pick up her toys. Her response, with a wave of her arm & a flip of her wrist, "It's okay...I'm not worried about it."

Yes, Sir! (2-8-10)

I asked Madison to put her boots in the closet. She stood up straight, saluted me and said "yes, sir!" LOL Where does she get this stuff?

Can't see you! (2-11-10)

I have to have my glasses off when I'm reading something up close, like the computer. Madison just looked up at me from across the room & said "Mommy, put your glasses on, 'cause I can't see you."

Hide 'n' Seek (3-4-10)

I love playing Hide'n'Seek with a 2 & 3 yr old. They are sooo funny! Noah counts with me while Madison hides. He holds my hand as we walk around the house trying to find her. It's not that difficult to find her really...especially when you walk in the room & hear "bubby...I'm over here"

Growth Spurt (3-16-10)

I'm thinking Madison must be going through a big growth spurt....all I ever hear is "mommy...I'm hungry AGAIN" It's almost become a joke around here. We often say she's eating more than a teenage boy! :)

Don't choke (3-23-10)

Noah has always been an anxious eater, and by that I mean that he shoves everything in his mouth without taking a minute to breathe, much less chew. As you can imagine, this leads to many close call choking incidents. He has been getting better as of late & we give him more opportunities to try bigger items.

I just gave Madison & Noah a cookie after their lunch. I walked out of the room to check on the laundry. When I walked back in I thought it was too cute to find that Madison had broken up half a cookie into small pieces for Noah "so he won't choke".

She's going to baby him longer than we are.

Why clean? (3-29-10)

We had guests over yesterday so I wanted to make sure the house was spic & span.

This morning I asked Madison to throw something away, so we can keep it clean. Her response, "Who's comin' now??" LOL

Dancing (4-2-10)

Noah is our little dancer. He has always been able to bop to the beat or sway to a rhythm. However, I will have to say...this is the first time I've ever seen him do some kind of hip-hop moves to the rhythm of the dishwasher.

Helping? (4-21-10)

I just peeked in Madison's room. In an attempt to avoid going to bed, she's folding all her dirty laundry and stacking it in a neat little pile. LOL

BOOM! (4-25-10)

I was comforting Noah, poor baby, who is terrified of thunderstorms. It doesn't help matters when his sister yells "here comes a BOOM, Noah!"

E.T. (5-14-10)

Eric & I introduced Madison & Noah to E.T. last night. It's been so long since I've seen that movie. It apparently had an impact on Madison. This morning she was touching fingers with all of us saying "E.T. phone home" LOL

Chips (5-19-10)

While in the living room folding clothes, I heard a crunch, crunch from the kitchen... I asked Madison what she was doing, she replied "eating chips...cause chips will calm me down" LOL

Monkey Pickles (6-11-10)

Madison picked up a very ripe banana off the counter & said "look Mommy, this banana has freckles...just like you have freckles" LOL

I've been compared to a lot of things, but this is the first time I have ever been compared to a banana. :)

I have to add that Uncle Web calls over ripe bananas "Monkey Pickles". It made me laugh & we have taken to calling them Monkey pickles around our house too.

Scratch me! (6-24-10)

I'm standing in the kitchen, stirring the chili we're having for dinner, when I hear Madison in the living room say to her brother "Bubby my back is itchy. Can you scratch it for me?" This is immediately followed by "OUCH! Mooooommm, Noah scratched me!"

EWWWW (6-25-10)

There are so many more disgusting things that go along with raising a boy, than raising a girl. Although, after discussing with my other mommy friends, it is more about personality differences.

Be forewarned....very gross incident ahead...

After having pooped, Noah decided to reach into his diaper & pulled out a gem for mommy. He ran over to me excitedly while rolling it between his fingers & placed it in my hand. It was hard to be mad at that beaming face looking up at me. I ran him to the bathroom to wash his hands & my own while hearing in the background, Madison gagging...on the verge of throwing up.

Motherhood is not for the weak.

"Honey" (6-30-10)

I was rocking Noah for his afternoon nap. Madison had already gone upstairs to her bedroom for her nap. Noah looked up at me with his sleepy eyes & said, "Where's Honey? Is Honey upstairs?" LOL I know he won't call her "Honey" for long, but it warms my heart to hear him call his sister such an endearing nickname.
